Network International announced a DDSC retail-payment pilot on 9 September. The named locations are Marks & Spencer at Dubai Festival City and LuLu at Khalidiyah Mall in Abu Dhabi. According to the company, a supported wallet scans a checkout QR code, and merchants can settle in DDSC or dirhams. Wider acceptance remains a plan following testing.

For a retailer, the useful comparison is operational. How are refunds handled? Which wallet is supported? When does settlement become available, and what fees apply? Those questions matter more than treating a two-location trial as evidence of nationwide adoption.

SalamTechs’ editorial takeaway: evaluate the complete purchase-and-refund journey before choosing a payment integration. The announcement does not provide transaction volumes or demonstrate a cost saving for every merchant.
