Rocket Software has acquired Israeli startup Geniez AI, adding a small team and its agentic mainframe technology to Rocket's Enterprise Value AI platform. The companies did not disclose the transaction price.

Rocket Software announced on 13 October 2026 that it had acquired Geniez AI, an Israeli company building AI agents for mainframe operations. According to Rocket, the acquired team and technical leadership will join the company and help accelerate capabilities in Rocket Enterprise Value AI, or EVA. The buyer described the move as a way to bring more automation to the systems that still run critical work for banks, insurers, governments and other large organisations.

The official announcement confirms the acquisition but does not publish a price, payment structure, retention package or closing terms. CTech separately reported that the deal could be worth up to $100 million. That figure is a media estimate and should not be read as an amount confirmed by either company.

What Geniez AI built

Geniez AI presents its product as an agentic layer that works directly with live mainframe environments. Its agents are designed to monitor systems, investigate incidents and execute operational workflows through natural-language requests. This places the product closer to an operations and modernisation tool than to a general workplace chatbot.

The distinction matters. Mainframes host core transaction and record systems, yet the specialists who understand their code, tooling and operating procedures are difficult to replace. An agent that can interpret system context, trace a failure and propose or carry out a controlled workflow could shorten diagnosis time. However, it also raises practical questions about permissions, audit trails, approvals and the boundary between a recommendation and an automated action.

Rocket says the acquisition will strengthen EVA's ability to connect AI with enterprise data and applications. For customers, the commercial test will be whether Geniez AI's technology becomes a governed part of existing mainframe operations rather than a separate demonstration layer. That requires role-based access, clear logs, integration with incident and change-management processes, and controls that let operators review what an agent intends to do before it acts.

Why the acquisition matters for Israeli enterprise AI

The deal is another example of an Israeli startup being acquired for a narrowly defined technical capability rather than for a broad consumer product. Geniez AI focuses on a difficult market where domain expertise, access to production systems and customer trust can matter more than a large user base.

CTech reported that Geniez AI was founded in 2025 by Gil Peleg and Dan Shprung, previously associated with mainframe-modernisation company Model9, and that it raised a $6 million seed round in September 2025. The publication also reported a six-person team. These details come from the secondary report; Rocket's announcement focuses on the technology and integration rather than the startup's financing history.

For Rocket, the acquisition offers a faster route to agentic operations expertise. For the Israeli ecosystem, it shows continued demand for applied AI products that can fit into heavily regulated, mission-critical infrastructure. The value is not simply that an AI model can answer questions. It is whether the product can understand a specialised environment, work inside established controls and produce actions that an enterprise can audit.

What remains unknown

Rocket has not said when the Geniez AI capabilities will become generally available inside EVA, whether the Geniez brand will continue, or which customers will receive the technology first. It also has not disclosed the final consideration or performance conditions. Until the companies publish those details, the confirmed facts are the completed acquisition, the transfer of the team and technical leadership, and Rocket's plan to use the technology to expand agentic AI for mainframe modernisation.
