The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency conditionally approved Bastion Platforms Trust Company’s conversion to a national trust bank on 18 September. Its decision states that the converted bank will not take deposits and will not be insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Bastion says the planned structure brings stablecoin custody, payment infrastructure and issuance services together under federal supervision. The important word is conditional: the announcement should not be read as proof that every proposed service is already operating under the new charter.
For an enterprise comparing stablecoin providers, the practical distinction is between a provider’s regulatory status and the specific service being purchased. The US decision alone does not establish permission to operate in the UAE or guarantee a token’s value. Cross-border plans require a separate check of the relevant permissions.
